La Jolla is an affluent seaside community occupying over seven miles of the beautiful Pacific Coastline. If you love the shoreline, here is where you will find the most beautiful beaches and houses in all of California. Caves, cliffs, beaches and spectacular sunsets are all part of its wonder. As you drive north through Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Bird Rock and then into La Jolla, it will take all doubt away on why this is the place to be. It has everything a resident is looking for (great beach front houses, ocean view homes with views, affordable condos, large upscale custom homes, outstanding beaches, shopping, restuarants and of course great weather).
If you are adventurous, try kayaking on a guided tour through the La Jolla Caves (I have done this several times with the family and it is awesome!). I'm sure you will see a sea lion or two. On any given day, you will find the beaches filled with sunbathers, scuba divers, snorkelers and swimmers.
Just a short distance north of La Jolla Cove is the Birch Aquarium at Scripps. This is a world-class oceanographic museum which showcases unbelievable marine life native to the entire continent. Birch Aquarium has an annual attendance of over 400,000 visitors and features more than 5,000 animals representing over 380 species. From atop the hilltop, you will see a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.
La Jolla is also the home of the University of California at San Diego which hosts a world-renowned medical school and a number of other academic programs. On the grounds of the University, you will find the popular La Jolla Playhouse which now showcases cutting-edge productions.
Venture inland and you will find La Jolla Village (only a block away form the ocean), filled with upscale shops, restaurants, hotels, salons and numerous art galleries. Prospect Street has been nicknamed "The Rodeo Drive of San Diego" due to so many specialty shops. If "mall shopping" is your cup of tea, you don't want to miss the University Towne Center Mall (UTC) where there's a shop or restaurant for everyone.
La Jolla, its possibilities are endless.
