Del Cerro is in close proximity to La Mesa’s Lake Murray, a major attraction for the outdoor person and sports enthusiast. This lake is extremely popular for fishing and boating due to its maximum water depth of 95 feet. And since there’s a paved 3.2 mile path along the shoreline that circles the lake, it’s a perfect spot for families to take advantage of bike riding, running, walking or rollerblading.
Another attraction near Del Cerro is Cowles Mountain in the community of San Carlos. This very popular hiking mountain is the most popular in all of San Diego County. With its spectacular views of Lake Murray and the surrounding communities, hikers enjoy this trail up to the top of the peak. The round trip hike is only three miles and it’s populated with the die-hard hiking enthusiasts day and night, 365 days a year!
Being close to downtown La Mesa, it’s easy for the residents of Del Cerro to take advantage of this quaint neighborhood. With a number of restaurants, specialty shops and activities throughout the year, it’s a fun place to eat, walk or shop.
Del Cerro houses Temple Emanu-El, a reformed Jewish Synagogue, which sits on the corner of College Avenue and Del Cerro Blvd. Across the street on Del Cerro Blvd. is Windmill Farms, a popular specialty market.
