Bonita is an unincorporated area in the county of San Diego nestled between the cities of Chula Vista, National City, Paradise Hills and Spring Valley.  Bonita is a short 20-minute drive to Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp District, Balboa Park and Mission Valley.  It’s one of the most private upsacle communities in all of San Diego County.

This upscale community is the home to many residents who love living on the outskirts of a big city.  Most of the homes are ranch style estates ranging in price from $400,000 to several million depending on lot size.  Horseback riding is a huge part of the Bonita community with many trails located in and around the nieghborhoods. Also, there are many homes with stables, so if you want a place to board your horse year around, Bonita is the neighborhood for you.

Living in Bonita has quite a few of advantages for the active family.  First, there is the trail which loops around the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course.  You will see hundreds of people walking, running or riding horseback all year long.  It’s become a very popular “way of life.”

If walking, running or riding around the golf course doesn’t excite you, you can always play the links at the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course.  This 18-hole course was designed by local PGA legend Billy Casper and is professionally managed by the American Golf Corp.  Beautiful lakes and the Sweetwater River wind and twist through the course which makes playing this golf course so much fun.

Located with the city is the Westfield Plaza Bonita Shopping Center which is located off Sweetwater Road and Bonita Road.  At this center, they have numerous specialty stores along with clothing stores, electronics, health & beauty, jewelry stores, GameStop and even a Gymboree.  The four department stores located at this center include J.C. Penney’s, Macy’s, Target and Nordstrom Rack. There are also a variety of restaurants which include Outback Steakhouse, El Torito, Applebee’s and Johnny Rockets, just to name a few.  The center also boasts an AMC Movie Complex with 14 different theatres showing movies in their stadium seating auditoriums. AMC also has an IMAX for all the latest in 3-D films.

Just south of Bonita in Chula Vista are two popular attractions:  the family-friendly water park called Knott’s Soak City San Diego and the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre which showcases a variety of musical acts all year long.  They are located next door to each other off the 805 Freeway and Main Street.

So if you love the “country” feel, but would like to stay close to the city, Bonita is one of the best places to call home in all of San Diego County.
