Eastlake Houses are in High Demand
Eastlake houses for sale are in high demand. As a Realtor in this area, I receive at least 5 calls a day from potential buyers looking for homes to buy in Eastlake. Why is there such a high demand? Well, for homes like this. I recently listed a house at 2829 Rambling Vista, Rd. Chula Vista, CA 91915 for $549,900. In four days I have received 38 calls from agents and buyers with interest in this home. It is a 5 bedroom 4.5 bath 3,700 sq. ft. house that has everything a buyer desires. It has an open floor plan with a very large family and living room. The kitchen opens up to the family room and is large enough for those buyers whose most important aspect of their house is the kitchen. The bedrooms are large and the master bedroom has a view for miles. It also comes with a three car attached garage allowing for those family with lots of cars or a need for that all important storage space. Houses such as the one on Rambling Vista, if priced at market, usually stay on the market for an average of only two weeks (short sales will take longer due to the banks, not the buyers interest).

Another fantastic aspect of this master planned community is how it was designed. Most of the houses were built close to lakes, parks, schools, walking trials, biking trails, multiple clubhouse community pools, little league fields, shopping centers and restaurants. Besides it being well designed for all types of families, there are homes for all types of buyers. Housing prices range from $200,000 for a condo to $700,000 for a single family detached home. The schools in this area are excellent as well. The elementary, middle and high schools are all within walking distance or a few minutes in the car.
When you become a resident of Eastlake (depending on where you live in the community) you will have access to a number of recreational amenities. In Eastlake Greens there is Dolphin Beach, which includes a swimming lagoon and beach volleyball area. In Eastlake Trails there is the Creekside Park and Clubhouse. The Eastlake Trails clubhouse has an outdoor entertaining area, two pools, a 2-acre lake surrounded by walking trails; 13-acre Chula Vista Community Park, with little league baseball fields, soccer fields, a playground and picnicking grounds, and a small skate park. In Eastlake Woods there is a clubhouse and pool which looks like something you would see in a 5 star resort.
Located in Eastlake Greens is a 18-hole professionally designed golf course. Located on the grounds are tennis courts, clubhouse and a pool.
Over the last 10 years, numerous Restaurants and retail stores have been built to accommodate the growing demand giving the residents no reason to leave.
San Carlos - Our new home
When we decided to move to San Carlos from AZ, we wanted to live in an area where we were 20 minutes from all the great attractions in San Diego and was safe for my family. Whether San Carlos is considered an inland community or simply a community of San Diego, it appears to be in the middle of everything. And as they say, “location” is everything when buying a home.
If you are living in San Carlos and want to drive to The Gaslamp District or visit any one of the beautiful San Diego beaches, it will only take you 15-20 minutes to do so! In fact, traveling to La Jolla, Chula Vista, Mission Valley, Alpine or any of the San Diego attractions such as the world-famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, SeaWorld or even PETCO Park, is still only a 15-20 minute drive time.
San Carlos is an older, well-established neighborhood (home prices range from $300,000 to $700,000) where residents take pride in their homes. It has a feeling of safety and peacefulness where you’ll find people walking in their neighborhoods most hours of the day. We ejnoy walking around the neighborhood every weekend as a family, it’s safe, fun and our neighbors are extremely nice.
One of our favorite places to hike is Cowles Mountain. We found out it’s the number one hiking attraction in all of San Diego County. On any given day, hundreds of hikers take the uphill 1.5 mile climb to the top of this 1,591 feet peak. On a clear day, you can actually see the Pacific Ocean and south into Mexico. It’s so popular that not only will you find spring and summer hikers, but you will also find those die-hard enthusiasts who love to hike year round – even in the winter, in the rain and at night!

In close proximity to our home is the Grossmont Center Shopping Center, located on Fletcher Parkway in nearby La Mesa. This great mall has Target at one end, Wal-Mart at the other with Macy’s Department Store in the middle. Grossmont Center also has the Reading Cinemas with 10 stadium seating auditoriums. At this center, there are many specialty shops and restaurants, including Claim Jumper, B.J.’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Casa de Pico (our favorite restaurant) and Panera Bread.
If you’re not a shopper, but fishing or boating peaks your interest, you’ll be pleased to know that Lake Murray Park, with its beautiful lake, is open year round. With the ability to either walk, run or ride bikes around the paved path which circles the lake, this makes for a perfect outing for my family and friends. We fish there once a month and our kids love it!
So if you’re new to the area and looking for a great place to raise your family, be sure to check out the San Carlos houses for sale, you just may call it home!
Living in Eastlake - My Buyers Point of View
EASTLAKE

It certainly seems to be the perfect place to live. It boasts quiet, safe neighborhoods, shopping centers, restaurants all around and is located only 20 minutes south of Mission Valley. Given the convenient access to the 805 and the South Bay Expressway 125 Toll Road, we find it easy to venture north, not only Downtown San Diego, but to the Gaslamp District, Mission Valley and all the popular attractions within and around San Diego County.
Since 1986, the community of Eastlake has been a place I wanted to raise my family. It has a number of different housing developments including Eastlake Trails, Eastlake Greens, Eastlake Hills, Eastlake Shores, Eastlake Vistas and Eastlake Woods.
One of the main reasons we moved to Eastlake were the schools. There are six public schools which have consistently scored in the top in their districts on all standardized tests. They all operate on a single-track year round schedule and are part of the Chula Vista Elementary and Sweetwater Union High School districts. They include Eastlake Elementary, Olympic View Elementary, Arroyo Vista Elementary, Salt Creek Elementary, Eastlake Middle, and Eastlake High School. There’s even a public library on the campus of Eastlake High School as well as a professional Performing Arts Center.
Located in the heart of Eastlake on Clubhouse Drive is the Eastlake Country Club (this is great because my husband is an avid golfer). He plays at least once a week and is always running into neighbors and friends he knows in the community. This beautiful Eastlake attraction is a challenging 18-hole, par 72 course professionally designed and maintained. It has six lakes, three waterfalls, 72 sand traps and scores of rolling fairways
There are many parks throughout the entire community, but one of the most popular is the Salt Creek Community Park in Eastlake Trails, located on Otay Lakes Road. This is where I meet most of the new mothers and families for play dates and birthday parties. This 24-acre community park features two multi-purpose fields, a skating area, a speed soccer rink, tennis courts, basketball courts and plenty of playgrounds and picnic areas.
Another park which is actually designated for the residents of the Vistas is a three acre park called Mountain Hawk Park. It has the best views I’ve ever seen at any park in the San Diego County area.
One of the many great advantages of living in any Eastlake community is that you don’t have to travel far to reach a large shopping center. The Otay Ranch Town Center is located at Eastlake Parkway and Olympic Parkway in Chula Vista. It’s anchored by giant department stores and has been labeled a “lifestyle center” with storefronts facing a main street, which gives you the feel of an actual mini-downtown shopping district. From specialty shops to restaurants to a 12-Screen AMC Theatre, this is a perfect place to find all your shopping needs for you and your family.
One other interesting site in Eastlake is the Olympic Training Center, a facility which is open year round to assist current and future Olympic athletes in archery, rowing, kayaking, soccer, softball, field hockey, tennis, track and field and cycling.
So if you’re looking for a community where homes are affordable for any size family, or a safe, peaceful place to retire away from the hustle and bustle of a metropolitan city, come to Eastlake. It’s a country-like environment like no other. My familiy and I love it!

Thinking about moving to Rancho Del Rey in Chula Vista?
Rancho Del Rey is a suburb of Chula Vista whick is located in San Dieog South County. This suburb is located along East H Street (both north and south sides).
Rancho Del Rey is one of San Diego South County’s premier master-planned communities having been built in 1989. This quiet community has affordable homes and condos that will fit any budget for any size family. Home prices range from $200,000 to $1,000,000 depending on size, location and condition. It also boasts quite a few gated communities with custom homes and huge lots. Because of all the surrounding rolling hills, it offers beautiful views for many homes.
Rancho Del Rey has 114 acres of parks, playgrounds and ball fields. It is also has a Costco and Home Depot which makes it convenient for the residents. Close by these stores is the Regal Stadium 16 Theatres, located at 1025 Tierra del Rey in Rancho Del Rey where the latest releases show in all auditoriums.
With its proximity to Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp District, Little Italy, Balboa Park, including the World famous San Diego Zoo, Rancho Del Rey is an ideal place to live and raise a family. Students who live in Rancho Del Rey are under the jurisdiction of The Sweetwater Union High School District; this district serves the communities of Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City and the San Ysidro portion of San Diego. Rancho Del Rey Middle School is one of eleven middle schools in this district, and opened its doors in July, 1997.
Located in the heart of this community is the South Bay YMCA at 1201 Paseo Magda. This well-maintained, clean facility offers a variety of activities for youngsters to seniors. From summer day camps, fitness classes to swimming lessons, there’s surely an activity for you and your family.
Surrounding this community are many attractions for the enjoyment of both residents and tourists. For instance, the Living Coast Discovery Center (formerly the Chula Vista Nature Center) is a fun, hands-on wildlife and nature experience for the whole family. It’s located on the San Diego Bay and the Sweetwater Marsh wildlife refuge.
For all the concert goers, the Cricket Wireless Amphiteatre is located in Chula Vista. This outdoor venue features approximately 10,000 chair back seats with a landscaped lawn that can comfortably seat another 10,000 spectators. Sharing the same parking lot as Cricket is Knotts Soak City USA, a huge family-orientated water park that spans over 32 acres. This facility is open from May through September.
One unique attraction in Chula Vista is the Olympic Training Center. They are open year round and assist current and future Olympic athletes in archery, rowing, kayaking, soccer, softball, field hockey, tennis, track and field and cycling.
And of course there’s always shopping! Rancho Del Rey is also close to the Otay Ranch Town Center, located inland in Eastlake. This upscale shopping mall has everything from specialty shops, restaurants and even a 12-Screen AMC Theatre.
With so much to do in and around Rancho Del Rey, this quiet upscale community in the city of Chula Vista is a great place to call home.
Your Chula Vista Realtor

Have you ever driven through a community and felt like you belonged there? That’s what happened to me 12 years ago when I first drove through Eastlake. Eastlake, in the Eastern portion of Chula Vista, has been one of the most popular neighborhoodsfor new home purchases in San Diego County for the past 15 years (as voted by readers of the San Diego Union-Tribune)…especially for families with kids!Eastlake has everything you could ask for in a community.
Being a Chula Vista (Eastlake) Realtor is a 24-hour a day, 7 day a week job. But it's not just a job for me…it's my career and what I love to do. There is no better feeling than helping a buyer find their dream house in a neighborhood they love or a seller selling their home for top dollar.
I know what it takes to be a great Realtor. I work as hard as I can for each client I have. When I am with a client, that client is the focus of my attention. I do not take incoming calls or text other clients--100% of my attention is on the task at hand with the clients I am with.
There are several things I do for my buyers that make me one of the top agents in Chula Vista. Firstly, I answer my phone 7 days a week. If I am with aclient I will let the call go to voice mail, but after I’m finished with my appt. I will return all of my calls right away. I know this seems simple, but you would be amazed at how many Realtors never call their clients or potential clients back. Most real estate agents don't even answer their phone. How can a Realtor provide great customer service if they can’t be reached?
Secondly, buying or selling a house can be a long process. I dedicate as much time as it takes to help my clients find a home or sell their house. I do notstop until the job is done. Whether it takes 60 days or 6 months for escrow to close, I put the time in to make sure the transaction goes as smoothly and stress-free as it can for my clients. I want them to be completely satisfied with the transaction and recommend me to friends and family and hopefully use my services again!
In order to truly help a buyer or seller it is necessary to know the community or city you're working in. One of thearea's I specialize in is, you guessed, Chula Vista and Eastlake (which is a subdivision/community of Chula Vista). Chula Vista is the 2nd largest city in San Diego County and is located about 15 miles south of Downtown San Diego. Chula Vista has 5 zip codes—91910, 91911, 91913, 91914 and 91915.
The zip code 91910 is located west of the 805 Freeway. (A small portion of 91910 does stretch east of the 805 and includes communities such as Rancho Del Rey.) Most homes in 91910 were built in the 1950's and 1960's. The average sales price for the past six months for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1800 sq. ft. detached single-family house was $345,000. The average sales price for the past six months for a2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1200 sq. ft.condo was $188,000.
Zip code 91911 is located in the southwest area of Chula Vista and iswhere you will find the least expensive homes in this area. The average sales price over the past six months for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1600 sq. ft. detached single-family house was $290,000. The average sales price for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1200 sq. ft. condo over the past six months was $150,000.
91913 is the main zip code for Otay Ranch. It is located just south of Telegraph Canyon Road and Otay Lakes Road. The average sales price over the past six months for a 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 2100 sq. ft. detached single family house was $360,000.The average sales price for a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 1300 sq. ft. condo over the past six months was $196,000.
91914 is home to Rolling Hill Ranch and San Miguel Ranch (as well as a portion of Eastlake Woods). One of the main attractions of Rolling Hills Ranch is that it is a portion of the community where there is no Mello-Roos. Because the east side of Chula Vista is relatively new, most of the area's have Home Owners Association fees and Mello-Roos, which can last 15-25 years and can range from $100 to $500 a month. The price range for homes in 91914 is from $250,000 to a few million dollars. The average sales price over the past six months for a 4 bedroom, 4 bath, 3100 sq. ft. detached single-family house was $550,000. The average sales price for a 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 1300 sq. ft. condo over the past six months was $215,000.
The 91915 zip code is one of my favorite zip codes in all of Chula Vista. It includes Eastlake Trails, Eastlake Green, Eastlake Vistas and parts of Otay Ranch. Homes in Eastlake Trails and Eastlake Greens range in price from $225,000 to $750,000. The average sales price over the past six months for a 4 bedroom, 4 bath, 3100 sq. ft.detached single-family house was $557,000.The average sales price for a 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 1300 sq. ft. condo over the past six months was $215,000.
No matter where you are looking for or buying a house, Chula Vista, Eastlake, Bonita, Mission Valley or Coronado--the most important thing you can do as a buyer or seller is choosing the right Real Estate Agent!
North Park is a great place to live.

North Park is considered one of San Diego’s most up-and-coming urban communities. Some residents of this community even seem to believe that North Park is the heart of San Diego, because of it’s central location. North Park’s neighboring communities include University Heights, Hillcrest, Normal Heights and Mission Hills.
There are a variety of Craftsman cottages, bungalows and homes that transform this area into a peaceful place that welcomes singles or a family of any size. The average price of a House for Sale in North Park is about $600,000 with about 1,600 sq. ft. The average price of a condo for sale is $265,000 with about 1,000 sq. ft.
This community is certainly developing into one of San Diego’s newest cultural and artistic neighborhoods. An intersection that is often considered to be the heart of the neighborhood is 30th Street and University Avenue where the North Park Sign is proudly displayed.
There is a lot to do in this community with a variety of restaurants, nightclubs, arts, entertainment and of course shopping. Being self-sufficient, it houses grocery stores, banks, drugstores and specialty shops. The newly renovated Birch North Park Theatre is home to the San Diego Lyric Opera, which is a great venue to see a musical or light opera.
Due to its proximity to North Park, Balboa Park is a huge attraction for not only residents of this community but for anyone living or visiting San Diego as well. Balboa Park boasts the World Famous San Diego Zoo along with 15 different museums, “live” theatres, and much more.
Just around the corner from Balboa Park is Downtown San Diego, which includes the popular Westfield Horton Plaza Little Italy, The Gaslamp District, the San Diego Civic Theatre, Petco Park (where the Padres play), Seaport Village, San Diego Convention Center and a ton upsale condos for sale.
Because of its great location, it allows you to get to a number of locations in only a few minutes. They include Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, Qualcomm Stadium (home of the San Diego Chargers), Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, and Point Loma.
Almost every city within the San Diego County has a Farmers Market and North Park doesn’t let you down. Their Farmers Market is located at the parking lot on the corner of University and 32nd streets. It’s open every Thursday afternoon until sunset and features over 35 independent vendors, including gourmet/ethic foods, arts and crafts, books and locally grown flowers. Sometimes there’s even live music to entertain you as you browse around.
So if you are already living in the San Diego area or are thinking about moving to the area, be sure to visit North Park, you won’t be dissapointed.
KENSINGTON, A Quiet Neighborhood in San Diego

Kensington is a well-established upscale neighborhood located in the middle of San Diego. Kensington is named for a borough in London, England, and in fact, many of the street names in this neighborhood are of English origin. This community is known for its beautiful Spanish-tiled cottage style homes, quiet winding streets and immaculate lawns and landscaping.
Communities surrounding Kensington are Normal Heights to the West, Talmadge to the East and City Heights to the South. This community is located close Interstate 15 to the West and Interstate 8 to the North, which makes it very convenient for commuters. Kensington is situated less than 15 miles from Downtown San Diego and is considered one of the most central neighborhoods in San Diego County. You can simply hop on any freeway and make your way easily not only to Downtown San Diego, but to the Gaslamp District and Little Italy as well. Here you will find hundreds of restaurants, bars, lounges, theatres and shopping for everyone’s tastes and styles, and all within a short distance.
Kensington is one of the three mid-city urban neighborhoods whose main thoroughfare is Adams Ave. Like its fellow neighborhoods, it is distinguished by the classic neon sign which reads "Kensington" and spans Adams Avenue. Along this main street, you will find restaurants, neighborhood banks, dry cleaners and coffee houses, basically all the essentials you look for in any neighborhood. There is also a Kensington/Normal Heights Branch Library.
The regionally famous Landmark Ken Theatre is located on Adams Avenue as well. This popular “Art Theatre” is not where you’d find the mainstream films; instead, you’ll enjoy documentaries and foreign films with very limited Independent films. Then there is the Ken Club, a respected, old-school neighborhood bar which always comes to life with “live bands” and DJ’s playing your favorite music at night.
If you enjoy walking around your neighborhood, you’ll see others leisuring walking or riding their bikes in this safe, comfortable environment. Residents and visitors alike find themselves meandering through the winding roads of Adams, given the peacefulness of this community and the beauty of the older established neighborhoods.
Living in Kensington will allow you to maintain an active lifestyle because there is so much to do. There is nearby Balboa Park with all of it’s many fantastic museums along with the world-famous San Diego Zoo and Seaworld. And let’s not forget about the San Diego beaches, all of which are only a few minutes away (Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla).
With homes resonably priced for any size family, why not lay down your roots in a quiet, upscale community like Kensington?
Del Cerro, an affluent San Diego Community

Del Cerro is an upscale bedroom community located just 15 minutes east of Downtown San Diego, Mission Valley and Fashion Valley. Its neighboring communities are Allied Gardens, La Mesa, San Carlos and the College area near San Diego State University. Situated just north of Interstate 8 Freeway, Del Cerro has easy access to all of San Diego since Interstate 8 transitions to all freeways within short travel distances.
Located west of Del Cerro about 15 minutes away are the local beaches which include Ocean Beach, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. From there it’s easy to travel south to Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp District, Little Italy, the San Diego International Airport, PetCo Park, Seaport Village, Balboa Park and the world famous San Diego Zoo.
Del Cerro is in close proximity to La Mesa’s Lake Murray, a major attraction for the outdoor person and sports enthusiast. This lake is extremely popular for fishing and boating due to its maximum water depth of 95 feet. And since there’s a paved 3.2 mile path along the shoreline that circles the lake, it’s a perfect spot for families to take advantage of bike riding, running, walking or rollerblading.
Another attraction near Del Cerro is Cowles Mountain in the community of San Carlos. This very popular hiking mountain is the most popular in all of San Diego County. With its spectacular views of Lake Murray and the surrounding communities, hikers enjoy this trail up to the top of the peak. The round trip hike is only three miles and it’s populated with the die-hard hiking enthusiasts day and night, 365 days a year!
Being close to downtown La Mesa, it’s easy for the residents of Del Cerro to take advantage of this quaint neighborhood. With a number of restaurants, specialty shops and activities throughout the year, it’s a fun place to eat, walk or shop.
Del Cerro houses Temple Emanu-El, a reformed Jewish Synagogue, which sits on the corner of College Avenue and Del Cerro Blvd. Across the street on Del Cerro Blvd. is Windmill Farms, a popular specialty market.
Have you heard the saying that “location” is the most important part of buying a home? So if you want to feel good about driving in and out of your neighborhood, knowing you are located close to good schools, shopping centers, movie theatres, restaurants, the arts and most important, good neighbors, then Del Cerro may be the site of your next home.
Coronado, still a main attraction!

Coronado is located in San Diego, CA and is not only a great place to visit, but it’s one of the nicest places to live in all the United Sates. It’s unlike any other location in San Diego County. My favorite way to get to Coronado is by boat or ferry. If you live here in San Diego or plan on visiting, you need to drive over the bridge on a sunny day to see some of the most spectacular views San Diego has to offer. Not only can you see all of Coronado Island, but you can see all of Downtown San Diego as well.
Coronado is a little island just west of Downtown San Diego and has some of the best beaches and most luxurious homes California has to offer.
If you are looking to buy a home in Coronado, here are some housing numbers you need to know. Condo/Townhomes range from $500,000 to $3,500,000. At any one time there are approximately 75-100 condo/townhomes on the market for sale. The average sales price over the last six months for a condo/townhome was $685,000 for a 2 bedroom 2 baths, with 1572 sq. ft.
If you are interested in a single family detached house with incredible views, great weather and only minutes from the beach, Coronado is a must stop. The homes range in price from $1,000,000 to $16,000,000 million depending on location, size and proximity to the water. There are approximately 75 to 150 Coronado houses for sale at any one time. The average sales price over the last six months was $1,700,000.
Most of these homes are like cottages located in clean, tree lined family friendly neighborhoods. From morning until night you will find people walking their dogs, riding their bikes and skakteboard's and walking the streets enjoying the weather and scenery. City code requires that no two houses can be the same on any one street, so the diversity of architecture gives each street its own personality.
Some neighborhoods include…
1. The Village – Includes most of South Island and includes the downtown area.
2. Country Club Estates - Located on the north side of the island adjacent to Naval Air Station North Island. It’s is Coronado’s only large area of homes all built by a single developer.
3. The Shores is located just south of Silver Strand.
4. The Cays is comprised of smaller villages that wind around inland waterways, each with its own pool and clubhouse.
5. Bay Front faces Downtown San Diego.
6. Glorietta is full of custom homes located across the street from the Coronado Golf Course all along beautiful tree-lined streets.
If going to the beach is at the top of your list, Coronado has some of the finest beaches around.
Beaches in Coronado include the following….
1. North Beach - starts at Sunset Park and extends down to about where G Street meets Ocean Blvd.
2. South Beach – is in front of the Hotel Del Coronado (rated one of the best beaches I the world). This is my favorite beach and is the one I take my family to 5-6 times a year.
3. Central Beach
4. Shores Beach
5. Silver Strand State Beach
6. Glorietta Bay Park
7. Tidelands Park
8. The Landing
Because Coronado is a very affluent community, the restaurants are plentiful, high end and offer something for everyone. Some of the top rated places to eat are….
1. Primavera Ristorante
2. Crown Room at Hotel Del Coronado
3. Burger Lounge
4. Miguelitos
5. Clayton's Coffee Shop
6. Miguel's Cocina
7. Vigilucci's Ristorante Coronado
8. Crown City Inn & Bistro
9. Il Fornaio
10. Brigantine Seafood Restaurant
One of the questions most asked of me are how are the schools in Coronado? And the simple answer is yes – they are very good! Coronado Unified School District includes Coronado Middle School (CMS), Coronado High School, Silver Strand Elementary, and Village Elementary. Coronado School of the Arts, a public school-within-a-school on the campus of Coronado High School, is also present on the island. Among the private schools are Sacred Heart Parish School and Christ Church Day School.
No matter if you are looking to buy and upscale beach front home or just visiting, Coronado is a must detination.
